In 2001, Tony Buzan was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the British Psychological Society. He was described as one of South Africa's leading thinkers and authors by an independent film-maker who interviewed him after his last lecture at Grahamstown University. His works have been translated into more than 25 languages, including Chinese, German and Spanish, and have sold more than a million copies worldwide. He has been interviewed and featured in magazines and newspapers worldwide and has also appeared on TV and radio programs. He is one of the most sought-after speakers at corporate conferences, schools and universities worldwide, giving lectures to groups of several hundred people. Buzan was the President of the South African Professional Speakers Association (SAPS), a member of its Board of Management, and he also served on the Board of Trustees for the National Institute for Clinical Linguistics (NCL). He was a Trustee of the FNB Speakers Bureau, a member of the Board for R&S Communications and Fundraising and a member of the Advisory Committee for the South African Institute for Clinical Linguistics (SAICL). In 2003, Tony was named by BusinessTech as one of the Top 20 most influential business speakers in South Africa. In 2004 he was voted "best motivational speaker" by "What's Up" magazine. Including German, Afrikaans, Xhosa and Zulu Buzan was born in London, England in 1946 and emigrated to South Africa with his family in 1961.
